Inspiration awaits. Come and explore the history of the Flaxmill Maltings in our new exhibition, The Mill, and learn why the Main Mill is the grandparent of skyscrapers.
The site restoration is a continuing project but the Main Mill is now complete. The Mill exhibition, the Shop and Turned Wood Café are now open for you to enjoy. Behind-the-Scenes tours are available on Wednesdays to Sundays.
Book your ticket to The Mill exhibition, and experience the amazing stories of the people connected to this special place; from those who built and worked at the grandparent of skyscrapers over nearly two centuries, to the people that saved it.
Or, you don’t need a ticket to simply come along and wander the courtyards at your own pace, reading about the site’s rich history on the outdoor information panels.
Situated just outside Shrewsbury town centre, the internationally important Flaxmill Maltings site reflects a time when Shropshire led the way in engineering. The site is home to eight special buildings each with a unique story to tell, including the 1797 Main Mill which is the grandparent of skyscrapers.
This remarkable piece of the industrial revolution is being restored but the new exhibition, called The Mill, and Turned Wood Cafe are now open. Behind-the-Scenes tours are now available.
Visitors can come along and experience the amazing stories of this place and it’s people by buying tickets to The Mill. Alternatively, there is no charge to simply wander the courtyards and take in the buildings in your own time and perhaps enjoy a drink and a bite to eat in the Cafe.
