Now is your chance to get involved.

The Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings will give visitors a warm welcome when they come to the experience, on tours, or to their events at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings.

The small staff team rely on the time generously given by their volunteers every step of the way. Volunteers have been an integral part of the Friends since their formation in 2010 and have been instrumental in reaching out and connecting the community to the Flaxmill Maltings during the restoration.

All of the Friends’ projects and activities involve volunteers at every level, and the Flaxmill Maltings wouldn’t be able to flourish without their input.

This is where you come in. We need people who have some time that they can give to this internationally important landmark.

Volunteering is not only about supporting the Friends and being a part of this unique place, but about having fun, learning something new, meeting new people and even improving your CV. The Friends will be running volunteer information fairs in the coming months; details will be in the What’s On section. You will have a chance to talk to current volunteers and staff and find out how you might be able to help in a variety of roles. You could join the Friends in selling tickets, helping out in the new gift shop or visitor experience, stewarding at events or being a tour guide.

“Volunteering at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings was one of the best decisions I ever made. It introduced me to an amazing group of people, helped me develop a wide range of skills, and helped kickstart my career. And all surrounded by an amazing historical site.  If you’re thinking about volunteering, do it.

“You won’t regret it.”
