Talk from 7 pm to 8pm in Turned Wood Café at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings.

Join renowned local art historian Gareth Williams, Curator and Head of Learning to the Weston Park Foundation, for a talk that asks what was so grand about the Grand Tour and how did this extraordinary gap year have such a lasting impact on the people that did it, their collections and on Britain’s great country houses? A focus on the highlife, fun and hardships of travel for the eighteenth and early nineteenth century European traveller. The talk is illustrated by Shropshire’s own Grand Tourists.

£10 – price includes a welcome drink (wine, beer or soft).

Café open from 6pm beforehand, closes at 9pm.
